Royston Vasie released their first two albums through erstwhile collaborator Courtney Barnett’s now defunct label Milk! Records. Their latest album Through The Canopies will be self released May 15, 2024.

 

Previously veering between the garage ethos of Black Lips and the shoegaze ease of early The Brian Jonestown Massacre, their latest effort is more akin to the Australiana synonymous with heavyweights The Go Betweens. At times the lead guitars wander into the territory of The Stone Roses.

 

The new album sees the band at their best, crafting songs laced with whip-smart lyrics, delivered by sunny-sombre vocals atop jangly guitars.

 

The band have graced stages big and small, touring throughout Australia and the U.S. with the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Courtney Barnett and Spencer P Jones.
